Blueberry Hill

Blueberry Hill is my tribute to Fats Domino and the sound of New Orleans.
I wanted to take something familiar and make it feel like my own. Fats sits surrounded by blueberries, leaves, and the words “I Found My Thrill,” pulling directly from the song that generations of people know.
The blues throughout the portrait connect the man, the music, and the title. The loose lines, visible marks, and imperfections are intentional. I want my work to feel handmade. I want you to be able to see that a person was here.
Fats Domino helped carry the sound of New Orleans around the world. This piece is about remembering that legacy while giving it a new visual life.

There’s something about the blues that feels like survival and living at the same time.
I wanted this piece to feel like a moment caught in between notes—the guitar in his hands, the smoke hanging in the air, and a face that looks like it has lived enough life to have something worth playing about.
The colors are intentionally muted and warm, while the loose lines and visible marks keep the work feeling human. I’m not interested in making everything perfect. I want you to see the hand in it. The imperfections. The decisions. The things that only happen when someone actually sits down and makes something.
